So—who is this Joe Biden guy?

As promised, the Obama campaign alerted its supporters via text message Saturday morning to announce that Joe Biden would be joining Barrack Obama on the Democratic National ticket for the ’08 Presidential Election.

When searching for a running mate, Obama had several things that had to be considered. Obama’s lack of expertise is apparent. He was in the Senate for just  a year and a half before beginning his run for the White House.  He also has   virtually no foreign policy and economic experience. These problems have led many to ask, “Why not Hillary?”

The answer is really quite simple: You have not seen the last of Hillary  Clinton and the Obama camp knows it. It is my unbiased opinion and the    opinion of many that John McCain will win this presidential election. I believe that Hillary is banking on this and is already planning a run in four years.  I think that it was a mutual agreement between the Clinton and Obama camp that Hillary would play nice, attempt to reunite the party after one of the most     polarizing party primaries in history, and that the Clintons would make an    appearance at the Democratic National Convention to help foster party support. If Barrack Obama loses, I doubt that he will ride off into the sunset like the two previous failed Democratic contenders, but I also doubt that he will be the   nominee in 2012 after a failed attempt in ’08.  Then again, this is just my    humble opinion.

So why Joe Biden?

Joe Biden is the only candidate in the “Veepstakes” who would seemingly balance out Barrack Obama’s shortcomings with economic and foreign policy experience. Delaware elected Joe Biden to the Senate in 1973 and sense then, Joe Biden has established himself as a major player in Washington, serving on both the Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committees.  Joe Biden will help to extend a reach to many party members who feel alienated by the rejection of Hillary Clinton, namely middle class whites who supported Hillary based on her experience and expertise. Joe Biden knows the ins and outs of Washington.

Biden is a solid choice, but he is infamous for letting his mouth get him into trouble. Republicans have already begun cutting up some of Biden’s more    embarrassing gaffs, one of which he says that there is “no one he’d rather serve under than John McCain”.

Joe Biden’s history with the Physical Therapy profession is unknown,    however, his Campaign Finance Manager was Christine Koerner, who is a   former Director of Women’s Initiatives with the APTA.
