Letter From the Editor Nine years ago Rehab Net and Arkansas Preferred Therapy Providers (APTP) combined making ours the only independent physical therapy association in Arkansas. When I started with APTP, I had 15 clinics to look out for. We now have 50 members with 55 locations throughout Arkansas. This last year we added several new members and lost a few old members, but we continue to be a strong force when we work together. We hope to continue to grow and meet the needs of independent physical therapists. If you know of any independents out there who may benefit from membership let me know. Also if you have ideas on new ways that Rehab Net can be of assistance to the group, please call me at 866-548-6003 and let me know. |

How Far Is To Far? There is a website named WebPT.net. This website claims that for $45 you can fill out an evaluation form and a licensed physical therapist will evaluate it and write you a treatment plan that you can do at home. With a little web surfing I discovered the owner of this website appears to be Mark Spier, PT, from Nebraska who’s physical therapy license in Nebraska is currently on probation on another unrelated matter. Several people in Arkansas and other states are wondering if this is legal? Is it even ethical to evaluate a person site unseen? AR Physical Therapy Board Chairmen Seth Coulter assures me this is being looked into. Granted if people use this web site, Mr. Spier can easily make money without the need for filing insurance. It’s a cash business. The website does not identify who the physical therapists are, or where they are other than a mention of in the Midwest. If someone is hurt because of bad advice, will they even be able to identify the guilty party and be able to seek a complaint against them? I wonder if he even identifies who he is when he sends the assessment and plan. |
