Letter From the Editor

2008 brought about many changes in our membership.  We lost a few members and gained a few more.  In the last few months we have added Athlete Plus Physical Therapy and Sports Performance in Springdale, Exceed Physical Therapy in Farmington, Kymes-Lyons Physical Therapy and Sports Performance in Conway, and most recently Eastern Arkansas Physical Therapy in Forrest City.  We also have some other potential applicants out there that have not sent in their applications yet.  Rehab Net continues to promote the private practice of the physical therapy profession.

Next month the Board of Directors will be having their annual retreat to plan for the year.  Feel free to notify me of any goals you would like to see us adopt.

MedRisk and Other Things—An FYI

Rehab Net is in the process of terminating our contract with MedRisk.  This is a contract that we were reluctant to sign  but we tried it for a year.  Only 20 or so members agreed to this contract and of those, 4 have dropped the contract.  MedRisk assigns a DXfee, which was the total they would pay for therapy, and paid it out at $70 per diem.  If the money ran out before the patient was well you were to     continue treating them at no charge.  It was the Board’s feelings that they were not bringing our members any new business but they were limiting your reimbursement and causing you additional paperwork on existing customers.  Our      contract with MedRisk will expire sometime before the end of February depending on when they receive our official notice.  Please be advised they will be contacting those of you who were providers, in an attempt to contract with you individually.  That, of course, is totally up to you, but we do not recommend it.

Secondly, Humana Choice Care Network is once again    attempting to contract with our members at approximately 85% of Medicare allowable.  We highly recommend against accepting these rates.
